Keyvera vs Follow Up Boss: which CRM fits a Canadian Realtor?

Follow Up Boss is one of the most popular real estate CRMs in North America, and it is genuinely good at what it focuses on: converting leads. Where it thins out is everything after the offer is accepted, and everything specific to practising in Canada. Here is an honest look at both.

What Follow Up Boss does well

Follow Up Boss, owned by Zillow Group since 2023, is built around lead conversion for teams: lead routing from 250+ sources, Smart Lists, Action Plans, calling and texting, and a very large integration marketplace. Teams that live on internet leads tend to like it, and its review scores are strong across G2 and Capterra. If your business is a high-volume lead funnel with dedicated inside sales agents, it is a credible choice.

Where it falls short after the offer

Follow Up Boss is a lead CRM, not a transaction platform, and its own help centre points transaction management to third-party integrations such as Open to Close, Sisu and Dotloop. In practice that means the moment an offer is accepted, your subject removal, deposit, financing and completion deadlines live in a second paid tool, or in Action Plans you assemble and maintain yourself.

Keyvera starts where the accepted offer starts: upload the contract and it reads the price, deposit, subjects and dates, builds the deadline schedule and task list, and puts every key date on your Google or Outlook calendar. That engine is the core of the product, not an integration.

The Canadian gaps

  • Pricing is in US dollars, plans start at $69 USD per user per month (about $58 on annual billing), and the phone dialer on the entry plan is a paid add-on at $39 USD per user per month, per the Follow Up Boss pricing page (checked September 2026).
  • Its compliance tooling centres on US rules such as TCPA and A2P 10DLC registration. Canadian phone numbers are supported, but there is no published CASL consent tooling: no consent capture at the source, no consent record, no enforcement before a mass email goes out.
  • No Canadian board or CREA-specific features. Deal workflows do not know what a subject removal or a strata document review is unless you build it.

Keyvera is built in BC for how Canadian deals actually run. Campaigns are CASL-first: consent is captured with the contact, stored with its wording and date, and a contact without consent simply cannot receive a campaign email. Checklists speak Canadian deal language, subjects and all.

The honest bottom line

If you are running a large team on paid internet leads today and need a battle-tested dialer-driven machine right now, Follow Up Boss earns its reputation. If you are a Canadian Realtor whose real risk is a missed subject removal rather than a missed lead, and you would rather have contacts, deals, listings, email, calendar and CASL-safe campaigns in one place, that is exactly the gap Keyvera was built to fill.
